About

I am a contemporary artist working primarily in watercolor with occasional forays into oils. I love watercolor because of the luminosity that can be achieved and the random wonders that the inherent unpredictability of the medium creates.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, and I was never really considered too much of an artistic kid, though I was always interested in a multitude of different creative pursuits. I headed straight south to Mississippi State University for college and, for the most part, studied mechanical engineering. My life did take a bit of a turn when I attended a lecture by Brent Funderburk and was so inspired that I went and signed up for his watercolor class (and a few more classes after that). I ended up graduating with a mechanical engineering degree and a minor in art.

I now reside in the Boston, MA metropolitan area working full time as an engineer while painting every chance I can get.
